The trivum audio extender solution has the following advantages over direct connections (simple adapters or adapters with galvanic isolation):
Up to 300 meters. Active symmetrical transmission of signals (audio + trigger + power supply) is the basis of the trivum Audio Extender solution. No interference. Thanks to the symmetrical sound transmission, disturbing noise caused by interference in the cable route is minimized. Thanks to its advantages, this complex technical solution is now a standard in many studios. No noise. Thanks to the active galvanic isolation of the transmitter and receiver, humming caused by potential differences cannot occur. Neutral sound.
Compared to the solution using passive galvanic separation using transformers, the trivum solution is sonically better, because the transformers change the sound image and cut or distort the frequency characteristic. The operational amplifiers used in trivum active expanders are technically much better than the passive solution. No time delay. Unlike products that operate over IP networks, the trivum solution has no latency. IP solutions (radio or cable) must digitize the audio signal, then transmit the data in packets over the network, then reassemble it into a buffer to convert it into an audio signal. This takes too long e.g. transmit TV sound lip-sync. With trigger signal. The trigger signal passes potential-free from the transmitter to the receiver. The voltage is set to 12V. The trigger input responds with high resistance to voltages between 5V and 24V. The trigger signal is then available on the receiver with a load capacity of 12V / 80mA.
Groundlift prevents noise loops because it separates the signal ground from the transmitter and receiver. The ground lift should therefore be active by default. In rare cases, it may be useful not to activate the ground lift: If the ground loops do not cause excessive interference. These disturbances (whistling, buzzing, rattling) are caused by dirty switching power supplies or plug-in power supplies without grounding.
Unlike passive Galvio separation using transmitters, the trivum solution is not magnetically susceptible to interference. Therefore, the adapter can be placed anywhere, including the area of power sources.
